The Song that Came to Pass

song that came to pass

I would like to take you all on a journey with me today.  Be patient because I’m not sure this post even has a point and I’m probably breaking all of the “how to write a good post” rules, but my heart is heavy and I want to share something with you.

We keep a MercyMe CD in the van. I think it’s one of those “best of” albums. Track number 2 has an upbeat catchy tune with words to encourage. Often times if the overall mood of my offspring was cranky or I was crabby trying to get everyone out the door on time, I would put that song on. I vividly remember glancing in my rearview mirror and seeing Rebekah dancing, her big smile lighting up her entire face. It was like looking into a mirror for me, no one could take a look at her and not know she was mine!  I miss glancing in my mirror and seeing her.  I miss it very much.

That song always lifted our mood.  Funny how a good beat and fun lyrics can do that.  The next song is slow and powerful.  I turn the volume up so I can sing (off key!) without ruining it for everyone else.  My heart becomes prayerful and thankful for redemption and a God that loves me.

God with Us

Who are we
That You would be mindful of us
What do You see
That’s worth looking our way
We are free
In ways that we never should be
Sweet release
From the grip of these chains
Like hinges straining from the weight
My heart no longer can keep from singing
All that is within me cries
For You alone be glorified
Emmanuel
God with us
My heart sings a brand new song
The debt is paid these chains are gone
Emmanuel
God with us
Lord You know
Our hearts don’t deserve Your glory
Still You show
A love we cannot afford
Like hinges straining from the weight
My heart no longer can keep from singing
All that is within me cries
For You alone be glorified
Emmanuel
God with us
My heart sings a brand new song
The debt is paid these chains are gone
Emmanuel
God with

Each time the fourth song came on, Rebekah would announce that it is her favorite song on the disc.  I was pondering this recently and I felt tingles up my spine when the significance hit me.

Her favorite song was “I can only Imagine”.

I can only Imagine

I can only imagine what it will be like
when I walk, by your side
I can only imagine what my eyes will see
When you face is before me
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
Surrounded by You glory
What will my heart feel
Will I dance for you Jesus
Or in awe of You be still
Will I stand in your presence
Or to my knees will I fall
Will I sing hallelujah
Will I be able to speak at all
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
I can only imagine when that day comes
When I find myself standing in the Son
I can only imagine when all I would do is forever
Forever worship You
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
Surrounded by Your glory
What will my heart feel
Will I dance for You, Jesus
Or in awe of you be still
Will I stand in your presence
Or to my knees will I fall
Will I

My sweet eight year old princess already lived this song.  She is the first one of us to fully understand what it means to stand before Jesus.  Her favorite song came to pass and she is surrounded by God’s glory.  BUT I am heartbroken.

Please take time to listen to the songs.  Perhaps you need to be uplifted, encouraged, or loved today!

    1. I think you hit on something with the idea of heartbreaking and healing at the same time. God is so good to give me these moments of healing.
