Peace is something we all long for but always seems to be out of reach. Why? Because we are going about it all wrong. We think that it is passive, something that we do or do not have, but we are instructed to “pursue peace” to go after it, seek it out, and make it become something that is a part of our daily lives.
We often think that if —- happens then we will have peace. If we can get past —– then we will have peace, but the truth is that peace has nothing to do with what is going on around you and everything to do with what is going on inside of you.
Do any of these describe you?
- worried
- anxious
- fearful
- stressed
- overwhelmed
- angry
- hurt
- grieving
Then this devotional is for you. 7 days of studying what peace really is. Not peace as we know it in the world today, but peace from God. The kind that Jesus talks about when he says,
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27)
Peace is something that comes as a result of a relationship with God built on grace and faith. It is a change of heart, attitude, and a spirit of reconciliation and surrender.
This simple devotional includes:
- 7 verses and a breakdown of how to relate them to your situation
- a detailed explanation of what true peace is and how it is exactly what we are looking for
- journaling pages
And six lovely printable scripture cards for you to put up on your fridge, tuck into your Bible, put beside your bed. We all need constant reminders, am I right?!

A Little About My Learning to Pursue Journey
I want to tell you a little bit about myself and why seeking peace has been so important to me.
Life happens to all of us, right? The good, the bad, the joys, and the sorrows envelop us. Sometimes they change us, other times they become a part of us. In one way or another, they remain an influence.
I heard someone say once that “we are not the sum of our past experiences” which is true, but we are influenced by them.
Even the crazy day to day occurrences can prevent us from having peace. The noisy neighbor, the rude bank teller, a teething baby. It took me a long time to learn that true peace has nothing to do with what is going on around us.
True peace comes from within!
My husband was on the other side of the world when he had a health scare (on my birthday!). I have four kids at the time, my youngest only 4 months old. Suddenly, fear gripped me and I prayed harder than I had ever prayed before.
Two years later, we lose our beautiful eight year old daughter in a terrible accident. My life was forever changed and I was plunged into a darkness I had never experienced before. She was my only girl and we did everything together. I am convinced that there is no pain comparable to losing someone you love. You can read more about my Rebekah in “Rebekah’s Heart”.
God was my strength and carried me more times than I can count. Losing Rebekah brought on anxiety attacks and a sudden awareness of danger all around me. I lived in constant fear of losing another child. It influenced my decisions, my thoughts, and my actions.
It has taken me a long time to grow out of that mindset. Thus, my search for peace.
What about you? What has brought you here? Are you ready to pursue peace like never before?
Need to think about it for a while? Pin for later!
