WELCOME!

When I first started this blog in June of 2017, my goal was to share the lessons I’ve been learning about raising kids, homesteading, and homeschooling.  I felt I had been on a journey and had learned many things the hard way.  I wanted to connect with people on the same journey and embrace my chattiness through my stories, thoughts, and pictures.  My vision was a light hearted and encouraging blog.

However, my world took a sudden turn down a dark and painful path with the death of my beautiful daughter in August of 2017.  She was only eight.  No mother chooses this path.  It is an ugly place to be, but here I am stumbling along searching for healing.  I cling to these words from Isaiah with faith that God is guiding my family through the hardest valley we’ve ever experienced.

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers. they shall not overflow thee:  when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.  For I am the Lord, thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Savior.     Isaiah 43:2-3

I feel God’s vision for this blog is a bit different than when I started out.  It has become a place for me to begin to heal and reach out to those who are also on this unwanted path.  A place I could dote on my precious little girl (and on my four boys) as we walk toward the light.

I would love for you to get to know my Rebekah.  She was a wonderful girl, full of sunshine and joy.  You can read more about her in “Rebekah’s Heart”.

So, whether you’ve happened upon this blog because of homeschooling, homesteading, parenting, or loss, I invite you to stay.  Please share your own stories, journeys, and lessons.  As I mentioned earlier, I am chatty, so the more the merrier!

I’d love for you to join our Lessons from Home family and receive encouraging weekly emails. You will also have access to many inspirational printables (and fun homeschool printables) like these cell phone wallpaper graphics below!

I’d love to chat with you!  Feel free to contact me at Heather@lessonsfromhome.co
