Are you like me, longing for a deeper relationship with Christ? Understanding what the Bible says isn’t enough: I want to be able to apply it to my life. I want it to burrow down into my heart and change me into His image.
The second desire of my heart is to raise strong men and women of faith. Parenting is difficult, and godly wisdom is a must. By nourishing moms with God’s word, they in turn nurture their children, and the beautiful cycle continues.
The best way I know to accomplish these two goals is by digging deep into scripture with Bible studies and devotionals. That is what you will find here at Lessons from Home. The posts are deep dives into verses. Some are familiar, others obscure, but all are life-changing.
Just like you, I have my own unique story. One of heartbreak and healing, despair and joy. Yours might look different than mine, but the goal is the same: to honor God with our lives and glorify Him through the good and the bad.
We are called to be the light of the world, and this is my candle burning in one small corner of the world. Join mine that we might shine even brighter together.
When I first started this blog in June of 2017, my goal was to share the lessons I’ve been learning about raising kids, homesteading, and homeschooling. I felt I had been on a journey and had learned many things the hard way. I wanted to connect with people on the same journey and embrace my chattiness through my stories, thoughts, and pictures. My vision was a light hearted and encouraging blog.
However, my world took a sudden turn down a dark and painful path with the death of my beautiful daughter in August of 2017. She was only eight. No mother chooses this path. It is an ugly place to be, but here I am stumbling along searching for healing. I cling to these words from Isaiah with faith that God is guiding my family through the hardest valley we’ve ever experienced.
When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers. they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. For I am the Lord, thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Savior. Isaiah 43:2-3
I feel God’s vision for this blog is a bit different than when I started out. It has become a place for me to begin to heal and reach out to those who are also on this unwanted path. A place I could dote on my precious little girl (and on my four boys) as we walk toward the light.
