20 Best Worship Songs for Kids to Grow Their Faith

Some of my best Sunday school memories are dancing around and singing fun songs such as “Zaccheaus” and “This Little Light of Mine”. I love how children’s Bible songs very simply state how much God loves us and how He is always taking care of us. As adults, we tend to complicate religion and often forget the basics.

Why Scripture Songs for Kids?

So, why scripture songs for kids? Because they are fun! But honestly, it is way more than that.

I grew up listening to Psalty and I can still recite the Bible verses I learned from their songs. Honestly, I can still feel the security of childlike faith that comes with this simple expression of God’s love for us. I want this for my kids!

In Deuteronomy chapter 6, God commands the children of Israel to teach His commandments to their children and to talk about them throughout their day. It goes as far as to say that the commandments should be written on their door posts.

I think of it as writing God’s words on their hearts. And that is what I want to do with these scripture songs for kids. I want to write God’s words on the hearts of my children so that they are always there to guide them and encourage them.

I want God’s word to speak louder to them than the many distractions that plague our young people today.

One last word on hiding God’s word in their hearts. We are living in a day where the line between right and wrong, good and evil, is becoming blurred. The only way to have a clear line is to study God’s word. Traditions change, society changes, and even the church changes, but God’s word remains the same.

All the more reason to cement our children in God’s word and make it readily available to their minds as they are exposed to different situations.

Ok! Enough chit chat, let’s start this round up of scripture songs for kids!

Scripture Memory Songs

Memorization can be difficult for many of us, but these songs make the word of God easy to remember. Many of them also teach what the verses mean so they are learning how to apply them to their lives right off the bat.

We are going to begin with the Bible Alphabet Song which contains 26 verses that are great to memorize!

Learning to control our thoughts is a lifelong process. Paul understood this when he taught us to think on things that are noble, just, lovely, and of good report. He knew how negative thoughts can pull us down and cause us to become anxious and lose faith.
