Are you looking for a fun way to teach kids Bible verses and to write God’s word on their hearts? Then this round up of scripture songs for kids is for you!
This is the third in a series of posts meant to teach your kids to worship, learn about, and connect to God through music. Why is this important? Because we are all influenced by the music we listen to. Why not make it a positive thing that inspires our kids for the rest of their lives?
Learning to pray and worship God from their hearts will grow their faith and their relationship with their creator like nothing else will. They will lean on this relationship when they are afraid, face difficult decisions, or when life breaks their heart.
Some of my best Sunday school memories are dancing around and singing fun songs such as “Zaccheaus” and “This Little Light of Mine”. I love how children’s Bible songs very simply state how much God loves us and how He is always taking care of us. As adults, we tend to complicate religion and often forget the basics.
Why Scripture Songs for Kids?
So, why scripture songs for kids? Because they are fun! But honestly, it is way more than that.
I grew up listening to Psalty and I can still recite the Bible verses I learned from their songs. Honestly, I can still feel the security of childlike faith that comes with this simple expression of God’s love for us. I want this for my kids!
In Deuteronomy chapter 6, God commands the children of Israel to teach His commandments to their children and to talk about them throughout their day. It goes as far as to say that the commandments should be written on their door posts.
I think of it as writing God’s words on their hearts. And that is what I want to do with these scripture songs for kids. I want to write God’s words on the hearts of my children so that they are always there to guide them and encourage them.
I want God’s word to speak louder to them than the many distractions that plague our young people today.
One last word on hiding God’s word in their hearts. We are living in a day where the line between right and wrong, good and evil, is becoming blurred. The only way to have a clear line is to study God’s word. Traditions change, society changes, and even the church changes, but God’s word remains the same.
All the more reason to cement our children in God’s word and make it readily available to their minds as they are exposed to different situations.
Ok! Enough chit chat, let’s start this round up of scripture songs for kids!
Scripture Memory Songs
Memorization can be difficult for many of us, but these songs make the word of God easy to remember. Many of them also teach what the verses mean so they are learning how to apply them to their lives right off the bat.
We are going to begin with the Bible Alphabet Song which contains 26 verses that are great to memorize!
Scripture Memory Songs: Bible Alphabet Song
Scripture Memory Songs: Proverbs 3:5-6
One of my favorites! Learning to trust God and follow Him is the foundation our kids need in order to make wise decisions in life.
Scripture Memory Songs: John 3:16
Never underestimate the power of God’s love!
Scripture Memory Songs: Psalm 136:2-4
A simple song of praise for a God that is great and mighty and yet comes down to us and wants to have a relationship with us.
Scripture Memory Songs: Philippians 4:8
Learning to control our thoughts is a lifelong process. Paul understood this when he taught us to think on things that are noble, just, lovely, and of good report. He knew how negative thoughts can pull us down and cause us to become anxious and lose faith.

Scripture Memory Songs: 2 Corinthians 9:7
God loves a cheerful giver! This is a difficult concept for even some adults I know.
Scripture Memory Songs: Psalm 34:13
Keep your tongue from evil. This is a constant struggle for me! I have two children that struggle with it as well and I am constantly reminded them to think before they talk. I have a devotional that your family will also enjoy as you learn this song.
Scripture Memory Songs: Psalm 4:8
Our kids have a lot going on around them. Give them this comfort and peace as they go to sleep at night.
Scripture Memory Songs: Matthew 6:19-21
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth. I love that there is a song about this verse as it is such an easy trap to fall into. May they always remember to focus on God first in every aspect of their lives.
Scripture Memory Songs: 1 John 4:7-8
Psalty brings back so many memories and I had to include this one! I’m going to age myself and tell you that I remember listening to this on a vinyl record!
Scripture Memory Songs: Psalm 91
A beautiful Psalm to bring our kids peace and courage.
Scripture Memory Songs: 2 Peter 3:18
This is a great verse that I would never have thought to put music. The Rizers do a wonderful job on what I have often considered to be a blessing.
One Last Thought on Scripture Songs for Kids
It occurred to me when I was listening to the Philippians 4:8 song that by playing these scripture songs for kids, we are teaching them to obey that verse. We are filling their minds (and our own!) with God’s word which is lovely and pure. Isn’t that a beautiful?!
