The holidays are approaching and my kids know it! Not so subtle hints are being dropped and I’m dreading the sudden influx of toys. While Legos, anything nerf, and sports are the go-to gift ideas in my house, I’d also like to have a good list of Christian gifts for kids on hand to encourage and inspire when the Lego days are past.
As a parent, I am always struggling to teach that balance of gratitude vs materialism and screen time vs human relationships. I feel as if life is so much more complicated than when I was a kid! These Christian gifts for kids can supply both the need for fun as well as nurture their hearts and souls.
This list of Christian Gifts for Kids is for a wide range of age groups and interests. Hopefully, it will spark some great ideas for you!
Christian Gifts for Kids can be FUN
Sometimes we get it stuck in our heads that Christian gifts mean only devotionals and Bibles. Those are great gifts too! I still have the Bible I received for my 16th birthday. I read it everyday and it has become dearer to me than any other possession.
Let’s look at some fun Christian gifts for kids first. Then we can go to the more serious kind.

Bible Games: My Favorite Christian Gifts for Kids
There are soooo many cool Bible games available. Everything from Bible Go-Fish to Bible Monopoly. Some Bible games are more trivia and can cause some unintended pride to emerge so consider playing those games on teams. Here are a few of our favorites.
Jonathan Park Audio Adventures
We love the Jonathan Park audio adventures. They are great for long car rides or to listen to while coloring or building.
Jonathan Park is the son of a Creation Scientist. I must say that I do not agree with everything that is taught about Creation Science in these broadcasts, but I have learned a lot! They are the perfect mix of education, Bible, and adventure!
Hermie and Friends by Max Lucado
My 8 year old was snuggled next to me on the couch when I was making a list of possible things to include in Christian gifts for kids and he suggested I include Hermie and Friends because he loves these dvds.
If you are looking for inspiring character building dvds for kids, these are the videos for you. They all center around the life of Hermie the Caterpillar and his bug friends. They are cute, funny, and perfect for ages 3-10 (although my 12 year old watches them still).
Missionary Adventures for Your Book Lovers
When I was a teen, I LOVED missionary stories. They were inspiring, full of adventure, and always made me dream of doing great things for the Lord. Isn’t that one of our goals in buying Christian gifts for our kids? To encourage them in the Lord?
My favorite series is the “Christian Heroes Then and Now Series”. There are many more books but here is a list of some of the heroes featured in this series to give you an idea:
- George Muller
- Corrie Ten Boom
- Amy Carmichael (my favorite)
- Hudson Taylor
- Nate Saint (another favorite)
- Eric Liddell
- William Carey
- William Booth
- Florence Young
Berenstain Bear Books Make Great Christian Gifts for Kids
I grew up with Berenstain Bear Books! All these years later I still remember the character building stories that I enjoyed. I have bought several for my kids over the years and they love them as well.
At some point, Berenstain Bear Books took on a more Christian perspective rather than simply character building. I like both the new and old ones. They can be long for toddlers, but you can’t go wrong from preschool through grade school with Berenstain Bear Books.
Focus on the Family Magazines
Another great idea for Christian gifts for kids is Focus on the Family magazines. They are fun for several reasons. Who doesn’t like to get mail? They are easy to read so perfect for the reluctant reader, and they are full of inspiring articles for all age groups.
Focus on the Family magazines includes boys, girls, and parents. We like Clubhouse and Clubhouse Jr. They contain encouraging stories about real kids, fun activities, and Bible stories.
I read Brio when I was a teen, but honestly couldn’t tell you anything about it now.
- Clubhouse Jr (for ages 3-7)
- Clubhouse (for ages 8-12)
- Brio (for teen girls)
Bible Costumes Make Fun Christian Gifts for Kids
Bible costumes are more for younger kids. What preschoolers don’t like to play dress up? It is way more fun to fight Goliath when you are dressed for the part!
Nest Learning: Animated Hero Classics and Torchlighters Series
The Animated Hero Classics from Nest Learning are very cool. You can order directly from Nest Learning with the link below. Some of the heroes (it is a big series!) they have created animated dvds about are:
- Marco Polo
- Helen Keller
- Thomas Edison
These tend to be a bit expensive. I think because they are interactive. We really enjoy the Torchlight Series which is more affordable and has just as many incredible men and women. This is a short list of available dvds so you get an idea, but they have a lot more incredible stories available. I have also gone to their website and printed off worksheets (which we did on a road trip last year).
- Gladys Aylward
- John Wesley
- Harriet Tubman
- Martin Luther
- William Tyndale
- Samuel Morris
Children’s Bible Storybooks
We’ve had quite a few Children’s Bible Storybooks over the years. Everything from beginner readers to toddler to storybooks. Here are a few of our favorites!
I know I mentioned in the beginning that I wanted to give you ideas OTHER THAN Bibles but I felt as if Bible Storybooks had to be included in any post about Christian gifts for kids!
I grew up watching Superbook and the Flying House. The old animation makes me smile now but they were a wonderful way to teach me Bible stories. I was thrilled when CBN took Superbook and created a brand new series. It is excellent. My kids love them and so do I!
You can get the first season for free on Amazon Prime, but since this is a gift post, you probably want a real dvd! As far as I know, the only place to purchase them is from CBN directly.
Superbook is good because it is accurate and teaches the kids how to apply the Bible story lessons to their own lives. My kids learn a lot from these.
